Hi! So every Wednesday, I do "Wisdom Wednesday": I choose whichever one of my decks is humming with a message, shuffle while thinking of you lovely people, and then draw three cards. I post a photo on my Instagram page of the cards, allowing you to select whichever is calling to your spirit, and then reveal the messages a little later on in the day. It's a lot of fun and the messages are always so poignant, but... Instagram formatting makes it such a pain in the ass. It messes up spacing and paragraphs, and often turns everything into a run-on sentence. So I thought, "Hey! I can post a simplified message for each card on the Instagram reveal, and then post the full messages over here on my website for anyone who's interested!" And that's what I"m gonna do!

For anyone who isn't here from my Instagram, feel free to choose a card now. Take a deep cleansing breath, and let your eyes fall upon the cards. Which one do you find yourself drawn to? Which card keeps catching your eye?

CARD 1 (LEFT)

CHICKADEE

"I am Chickadee, the discernment of right action. I am pure thought and fearless truth. I am the resolution to assert myself and express myself. I am undaunted curiosity. Not every destiny is grand. Not everyone can make the headlines. Each of us though, carries some thing or someone along just by presence. You need to pay attention. You are forgetting your irreplaceable role. I am everywhere because I am curious to see the world play out. I watch to see how things work. I observe and find a way in. I do what my nature insists that I do and savor my unique imprint. It is time to let your actions do the talking and finish what you have started."

You are unyielding.

You are the boldness of inspiration.

You are purpose.

You are Chickadee.

Anybody who has had encounters with the chickadee will certainly recognize their fearlessness. Chickadees are known to even land in the palm of a human hand, if the human is quiet and patient enough. This kind of behavior retains a symbolic meaning of courage as well as curiosity. Chickadees are tremendously curious, and sharp-witted. In this light, the chickadee is symbolic of having the courage to seek out new vistas, new ideas, and new avenues of growth.

And what about that tell-tale song they have? Once you hear a chickadee call, you always know this bird by its song. Chickadees have a signature voice, which speaks volumes about identity. This reminds us humans to create our own signature call. What is it about YOU that is special, unique, vibrant and lively? Now is the time to create a motto or mantra that expresses what is special about you, and vocalize it! Chickadees are also incredibly protective of their own and will attack birds much larger and aggressive than themselves in an effort to protect their clan. There's sort of an underdog tone to the chickadee. Small and slight they may be, but so fierce when the occasion calls for action! Have you ever felt weak or inferior? Consider the tiny stature of the chickadee, and imagine it giving a blue jay a stern lesson defending its territory. You have immense potential to do what you have to do in order to fortify yourself and protect that which you cherish. If the tiny chickadee can thwart off harm...YOU certainly can too! In summary, the chickadee reminds us that lovely, wondrous things come in small packages. This bird encourages us to never judge a book by its cover. They may be small, but they have tremendous heart.

CARD 2 (MIDDLE)

FALCON

"I am Falcon, the swiftness of change. I am the sun god, the solar emblem, and the renewal of fortitude. I am victory rising. I am the hunter. Faster than anyone, I harness the power of quick action. Every flit of a feather alters the world somehow, so waste no opportunity. I am conquest. I am prophecy. I will lead you to your purpose. You have made great strides already, but I am here to take you further. I have given you the visions you asked for, but you have yet to take flight. Take heed of the currents and dive in. Find your target and take uncompromising aim. I am the arrow that hits the mark and will steer you ahead if you allow it. Get away from the scenic route and plot your steps quickly. Many great things lie ahead."

You are forging ahead.

You have spotted the prize.

You are triumphant.

You are Falcon.

The Falcon was symbolic of the rising sun in Egypt, and many gods were shown with the head or body of the Falcon, including Ra. This king of the birds comes to us when we require higher vision, or higher knowledge in solving current dilemmas in our lives.

At its core, the Falcon animal totem represents visionary power, wisdom, and guardianship. This powerful bird awakens visionary power, and leads you to your life purpose. The Falcon carries with it a message of transition and change - perhaps in your vocation, work, career, etc. This is a creature that encourages us to calculate and strategize. If we have a goal, Falcon beckons us to make plans and strategies to obtain these goals. Falcons are all about focus - strong, one-pointed focus. When they show themselves to us, we are being called to focus on our desires and our goals, and do what is necessary to bring our desires into our reality.

The fact that the Falcon is a solar creature could mean there is something in your life that you are highly passionate about, and the Falcon is asking you to take action on this passion. But be smart about it - don't jump into something without doing research and planning. Make your passion a reality by pursuing it methodically and as strategically as the Falcon would pursue his hunt.

CARD 3 (RIGHT)

SEAGULL

"I am Seagull, master of the sea. I am legend on the water. I am ghost bird. I am the one who haunts those adrift in the storm. I have the ways to maintain my bold position and defend a scavenger lifestyle. I take what I want, as my survival depends on it. If you want my advice- learn to take what is given while it's there. There is always treasure where nobody looks. There are always paths no one has trod upon. Seek them out and make them your own. I am resource and plenty. Expand your horizons. I am guardian of the open shores. Look farther out to sea, the ships may be heading in your direction. Competition is wild, but your instincts are keen."

You are navigating the chaos.

You are exploring deeper waters.

You are boundless supply.

You are Seagull.

There are actually several different kinds of gulls, but most of them are clumped under the name "seagull". In truth, it's a poor name, because gulls aren't just found by the sea. They are often found inland, and can thrive in both fresh and salt water areas. This is a good introduction to the symbolic meaning of seagulls. It speaks about opportunity, resources and adaptability. Seagulls go where they can find the best food.

In a symbolic sense, the seagull reminds us to move where the best resources might be. Many of us deny ourselves opportunities because we feel safe in our comfort zone. Not so for the opportunistic seagull. These birds may be a sign to fly out of our realm of comfort, maybe take a risk, and do so with the goal of finding better conditions for our well-being.

Many cultures associate the seagull with liberation. The book "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach is a story that reinforces the essence of freedom the seagull is known for. The story is about a seagull who is disenchanted with the common way of seagull-life. He strives to break from the shackles of convention. He pushes himself to fly ever higher in an effort to be free from the mundane. When seagulls soar into our consciousness, it might be a sign to break out of the same, boring routine. It might be time to fly high, show the world our potential, and dare to be free from what the world expects us to be.
